About ShipBuild Talent Hub
The Smart Development Institute (SDI) created the Shipbuild Talent Hub as a nationwide capacity-building initiative to modernize shipyard operations and rebuild America’s skilled maritime workforce.
โ
Our four-pillar approach combines workforce development, workforce augmentation, digital transformation, and communication and outreach to strengthen America’s shipbuilding competitiveness while fostering international collaboration.
โ
The Shipbuild Talent Hub brings together education, technology, and workforce policy under one framework. Through integrating these elements, SDI delivers measurable results in workforce upskilling, capacity building, and digital transformation.

Main Pillars

Workforce Development
U.S. shipbuilding faces shortages not only in trades but also in engineering, scheduling, and production management. While domestic talent is being cultivated, SDI bridges the gap by deploying experts from allied nations in areas like Naval Architecture, Marine Systems Engineering, and Shipyard Construction Management.
Using SDI’s Cap-Exempt H-1B Program, we augment the workforce without displacing U.S. workers, ensuring continuous productivity while developing future pipelines.
Digital Transformation
Modern shipyards need intelligent systems to make operations faster, safer, and more transparent. Privatized AI provides that capability.
โ
Think of it as a secure Control Tower inside the shipyard. It connects disconnected systems, surfaces risks early, and gives managers and crews a real-time view of operations. Privatized AI operates entirely within the shipyard’s firewall using GeoFencing technology, ensuring data never leaves the yard. The result: smarter, more efficient, and secure shipyards ready for the future.
